Local Historic Building Destroyed

Local Briarcliff mansion destroyed

If you have ever been up by Briarcliff, north of downtown Kansas City, you’ve seen the historic Garney house.

Located at 4200 N. Hickory Lane and built in 1995, the brick structure was made to resemble a English country manor. This developer of this home was Charles Gerney, he used the home to showcase the upscale residential and business development of Briarcliff.

Late March 13, the mansion  was destroyed by a three-alarm fire that continued till early Friday. The firemen continued to put down the flames till 5:30 am and the roof was almost completely gone on the north end of the structure. Most of the lower floors of the mansion stayed intact and no one was harmed.

The perfect place in Briarcliff to have social events and fund-raising was left scarred by the flames.
