Twelve seniors officially committed to play their respective sports at the collegiate level.

The signing ceremony was held during seminar over a week after national signing day. Athletic director, Don Perkins, moderated the showcase and opened with remarks about how difficult it is to get the opportunity to play at the next level.

“Statistics show that only one percent of people that play high school sports get the opportunity to play college sports,” Perkins said.

The coaches of each athlete then shared some stories and statistics about the athletes. Families, teammates, and friends filled the stands to witness and congratulate those who committed. When it was the athletes turn to speak some recounted their favorite memories and many thanked those who supported them throughout their athletic careers.

“I want to thank my parents for always supporting me and driving me places,” senior Evan Johnson said. “I would also like to thank my teammates, especially [Jack Arndt].”

Those who signed will be attending a wide variety of schools at varying collegiate levels. There will be another showcase for students signing in the spring.
