BPA

BPA stands for Business Professionals of America. BPA is a co-curricular organization, a co-curricular organization means that is goes with what is being taught in the classroom, it helps the learning process. It supports business and information technology educators by offering exercises based on high standards. There are about 43,000 members in BPA around the nation.

BPA members compete at state BPA which is February 20-22, 2014 in Wichita, Kansas. They have a variety of events including Finance, Business Administration, Digital Communication and Design, Management, and Marketing and communication. The students who do well at state qualify for nationals which is held in Indianapolis, Indiana in May. Nearly 6,000 kids attend nationals.

Students can get involved in BPA by joining Advanced Business classes here at West. Students do a variety of projects including projects, presentations, and they have the opportunity to compete in broadcasting and news. BPA is run by Mrs. Krewson, she has been in charge of for nearly nine years.

“My favorite thing is working with students and watching them succeed. Kids are usually really good at sports and have the opportunity to compete in games, BPA gives students who are really good with technology and computers the opportunity to compete. The district and school are both very supportive of us.” Said Krewson.
