Saturday, March 7th, the girls basketball team played in Lawrence against Freestate for the final leg of the Sub-State Tournament.

The final score was 49-45, leading the Viking girls to be Sub-State champions. The game was a huge accomplishment for the team because Freestate was ranked higher than them.

Freestate had the second highest scorer in the league, but the first is senior Morgan Mauck from West.

This coming Thursday, March 12th, the girls leave for Wichita for their first game of the state tournament against Wichita South.

“I think we have a good chance to continue on in the tournament, because we have strong players and our coaches always prepare us well for the competition,” senior Kelsey Eisenbarger said.

If they win Thursday, their next game would be the following day, Friday at 6:30 p.m. against either Olathe South or Washburn Rural.

Good luck to the Vikings girls basketball team at state!
