Snow Week Confessions

Snow days are the cream of the crop, the bees knees, and the cat’s meow. They are in fact so great that I needed to describe their importance with widely-used stereotypical idioms.

We as students, crave these wonderful days. Not because we are lazy and like the snow, but mainly due to the fact that many of us procrastinate homework. So when there is the slightest chance of snow, we are in our pajamas, dancing our butts off with hope that school will be cancelled the next day.

Instead of actually completing the assigned work given to us, we automatically jump to the conclusion that SMSD will cancel school. It’s not our faults, it is just the way we are wired. We would rather walk into class with incomplete homework and our explanation being “I thought we were going to have a snow day”, than actually sitting down and forcing ourselves to utilize ours brains (which have functioned well since before break).

                                                  __ _ __ _ __ _ __ _ __ _ __

This week off of school has been truly eye-opening. I have come to the realization that when given lots of free time I end up being buried in boredom. When I am busy I pray for this time, but when I get it I don’t know how to react.

We have had six days off and the only things I have to show for it is the amount of American Horror Story episodes I watched, halfway reading a book, and the effort I put into shoveling my entire driveway. Weather played a huge part in my decision to isolate myself from humanity, but when it was bearable I glimpsed outside and shrugged.

Who is to blame for this?

NETFLIX.

*loud/dramatic gasp*

It has taken over my life in such a way that some may view as un-healthy. Pressing that next episode button gives me such an unexplainable rush.  And with all my favorite shows in seconds with the simple click of my PS3 controller, it’s a struggle to stop.

I am on the road to recovery, but I need your support. In order to heal I must first acknowledge my weakness.

“I am Isaiah Mckay…And I have a Netflix Addiction.”

*roaring applause*
