Newsweek’s Top School
Just recently, West was selected as one of America’s Best High Schools. Newsweek’s list of America’s Best High Schools was composed of a selected number of 2,000 public high schools throughout the nation. Newsweek determined which schools could top the list by analyzing schools who have proven to produce college-ready grads most effectively. West was ranked 1,749th place while other Shawnee Mission schools like Northwest placed 1,518th and South 1,498th out of the 2,000. Other factors for being selected included:
- Graduation rate
- Graduation acceptance rate
- Number of AP and higher level tests taken by students
- Average SAT/ACT scores
- Average AP scores
- Number of students taking an AP or higher level course
Keep it up West!
