This past weekend, members of our Epic staff traveled to San Francisco to compete in the National Scholastic Press Association’s convention. The Epic placed first in the category of Best in Show, beating out fellow rival Shawnee Mission East. There were about 30-40 other schools from across the country also competing.
“After being on the staff for three years and being Editor in Chief this year, winning this award to me is like validating all of my hard work,” said senior Joshua Smith.
Sponsor of the Epic, Amy Morgan, traveled with the students to San Francisco and was proud to be apart of such an accomplishment.
“I was completely shocked because we have never placed so high before so it was very fun. Of the ten awards they gave, six were form the Kansas City Area,” Morgan said.
