A quick Q & A with Blake Martin on Robotics Club

Q: What is Robotics?
A: “We build robots for competitions against other schools.”

Q: How often do you meet?
A: “During the beginning of the year we don’t meet very often, but during build season we meet once during the week and saturdays.”

Q: How many competitions do you attend per year?
A:  “ We attend one competition a year.”

Q: What is your favorite part about robotics?
A: “Building the robots is my favorite part because that’s what I’m best at and the mechanics of the robot are what I enjoy the most.”

Q: How many people are involved in robotics?
A: “Right now there’s ten to fifteen people but we are always looking for more to join.”

The Robotics Club at West began in 2006 with a goal to encourage students to develop their robotics skills. The club studies the basics of building robots as well as the building of the FIRST VEX robot. Amanda Leach and John Taylor are the club sponsors.
