Shawnee Mission West kicked off Homecoming with a Spirit Week (October 8-12) leading up to the dance. The week was composed of ‘Merica Monday, Throwback Tuesday, Walt Wednesday, and Black and Gold Thursday. Monday was full of red, white, blue, and true American patriotism. Next, leg warmers, off-the-shoulder sweatshirts, tie dye, and neon colors filled the hallways on Tuesday. Disney characters walked the hallways on Walt Wednesday. Finishing off the week was Black and Gold Thursday to show viking pride, anticipating a victory at the football game Friday night against Shawnee Mission North. That Friday at the Homecoming football game, the student section was filled with cowboys and cowgirls for Wild Wild West night. The Viking football team triumphed over SM North, 58-0.
