Baseball:

The baseball team got a pre-season ranking of 6th in the state of Kansas. Amongst the Vikings in the top of the state include Lawrence Free State, Maize, and Shawnee Mission East. The Vikings open on March 31 against Olathe North, a team they beat 10-0 last year in the opener.

The baseball team has been emphasizing on their approach at the plate, keying in on the offensive side of the game. With a new assistant coach, new material has been brought to the team. Clutch hitting, base running, and pitching are three things the coaching staff has been stressing. If they can master those three the Vikings will have a promising season and hope to return to state after missing out last year.

Coach Gonzales has her lady’s soccer team off to a 2 and 0 start. With a mixture of young and old players, might be just what they needed. Senior, Carly Cassady, who plans on attending The University of Memphis on a soccer scholarship helps lead the way for the Vikings.

Jenny Allin is in her second year as the goalie and is off to a good start helping her team win two games. Young guns Sydney Miramontez, Ali Smith, and Rachel Overmohle provide a young spurt of energy and motivation to keep the upper classmen in check.

The Vikings latest game is on March 29 against Park Hill South at CBAC.

The track and field, boys golf and tennis, softball, and girls swim and dive have also begun their spring seasons. Come support all of the athletes in their competition as this spring season is bound for success.
