Panties for the Party
Student Council and the PTSA are working together to provide new teenage- sized underwear for the Shawnee Mission Area Clothing Center. Every student that goes to the clothing center receives three pairs of underwear. The Clothing Center receives a surplus of child-sized underwear but teenage-sized underwear is rare.
The After Party on December 10 will double as a way to raise supplies for the Clothing Center. Admission for students will be $4 or $2 if new teenaged-sized underwear is donated. The additional money will be used to purchase new underwear to donate to the Clothing Center.
Together We Can, Reflections Competition
PTSA is running the Reflections contest to honor artistic abilities. The competition’s theme this year is “Together We Can.” Categories in which to enter are dance choreography, photography, film production, musical composition, literature and visual arts. Original works must be submitted by Wednesday, December 15, 2010. $50 will be awarded to a winner in each category.
Last year two students won at the national level – Mickaela Hoffpauir, senior, in photography and Kyle Neely in poetry. For further details see art, dance, English, music teachers or contact Teri Kelly at (913) 485-5118 or [email protected]
