GET ON THE LINE. There may not be a single thing that haunts my nightmares more than this dreaded phrase. Any athlete who has ever had the unfortunate experience of hearing these words can sympathize. For those of who are athletically challenged or utterly confused right now, allow me to translate. Take a stroll by any soccer field, basketball court, or football practice, and chances are that you might hear the grown-up with the whistle furiously scream “Get on the line!” Now this is extremely bad news for any player under this coach’s torturous control. So if someone crumples to the ground in fits of hysteria, don’t point and laugh. Have pity on their poor soul. Because in the near future (in other words, as soon as they can manage to drag themselves off the ground and get to the baseline), they will be forced to complete
