Art Beat 2017

Sami Jansen, Assistant Editor

National Art Honor Society hosted Art Beat last Thursday. Art Beat is an annual gallery show for students from West’s feeder elementary schools and Westridge Middle School.  The event is confined to the art hall where elementary, middle, and high school student’s artwork lines the walls.

Art Beat is unique in comparison to other galleries hosted by NAHS in that it is interactive. Through various art based activities students and their families are see what West’s art department has to offer their future students. Families can create photograms in the photography darkroom, get their face painted by NAHS students in the painting room or build with clay in the ceramics room. Visitors to the event also have the opportunity to take home artwork made by West art students. Every year miniature paintings and other crafts are put on display and sold by NAHS students. Proceeds from the art sold goes back to NAHS and helps to fund Art Beat for the following year.
