Making it to Nationals

Macy Sherwin, senior, will be taking a trip to Dayton, OH on May 1st.

She was invited after participating in a research project competition.  Sherwin was among an elite group of five.  Participating in the Signature Program here at Shawnee Mission West she was responsible for preparing an intensive research project of her choice.  She chose to investigate the effects of cinnamomum on rhizopus stolonifer.

In common English, that means the effects of cinnamon on the growing of bread mold.

The competition consisted of a 12 minute presentation and answering questions from experts. Sherwin was judged by various experts and professionals.

Sherwin is also participating in a science fair this weekend at Union Station.
