Donut Make You Hungry?

There are many donut shops in the Kansas City area, but which one is the best? We’ve selected just a few of the best in the area to test which one is our favorite.

KC Donut Co.:

With two locations in Olathe, KC Donut Co. presents a variety of many different donuts. If you ask me, this is one of the more underrated donut shops in the area. They offer either the option to eat in on their small furniture or take out your order. The donuts (depending on which one you order) have more of a cake texture, unlike other donut places. The prices are very reasonable with donuts costing just around a dollar, and the quality of the food holds up well for the aforementioned reasonable price. Compared to other donut places this one really sticks out to me, and I think it’s because of how relatively unknown they are.

Daylight Donuts:

Friendly staff members are behind the counter ready to make your morning with a wide variety of donuts. This welcoming and comfortable shop offers not only donuts. You are also given the opportunity to accompany your donut with coffee or a selection of cold beverages. If you wish to stay and eat your donut, there is plenty of seating available. Say you aren’t satisfied with a normal donut, well if you desire, the Daylight Donuts staff is pleased to fill any donut for you (besides any donut with a hole or a cinnamon roll), with either Bavarian cream or marshmallow cream. The donuts themselves are very dense and you can tell that when eating. The location of the shop is hard to see. If you didn’t know it was already there, I’m not sure you would know at all. Overall, Daylight Donuts has good tasting donuts along with an inviting atmosphere.

Lamar’s:

At Lamar’s you are greeted with two or so tables topped with umbrellas outside, as well as some signs that grab your attention. However, that is the only seating within the whole shop. Like Daylight, other products are offered, but at a little bit of a different type of product. For example, you could purchase a LaMar’s t shirt if you so choose, as well as bagged coffee and other items. Behind the counter of a nice variety of donuts are nice staff members. In my opinion, LaMar’s had the best donuts between the places being compared. They were fluffier and bigger than the other donut places.

Yo’s:

Yo’s is an interesting place because the atmosphere is not appealing. It’s hidden on Renner Rd, but it is tasty. The donuts that are offered are mostly glazed, but they still have a selection. The selection and variety of donuts is not as great as Lamar’s or Daylight’s. Breakfast burritos are offered, and there is seating available inside. The staff is very nice as well, however the inside of the shop is boring. As for the donuts taste, I felt as if they were more on the chewy side. Quite honestly I remembered them to be better, so I was surprised. They weren’t bad, but compared to Daylight and Lamar’s, it was on the bottom.
